Just over an hour and a half from his hometown of Lake Charles, Adam Freeland graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a major in Biological Sciences, and a minor in English. He got to Houston as fast as he could and graduated from South Texas College of Law – Houston in the top third of his class. In law school, Mr. Freeland was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Economic Law (CURRENTS), a Gerald T. Treece Summer Trial Academy Advocate, a participant in the Giles Rich Moot Court Competition two years in a row, and the Secretary for the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Society After law school, Mr. Freeland worked at a defense firm that specialized in representing doctors in medical malpractice, as well as corporate clients and insurance firms caught in litigation. Mr. Freeland additionally worked on intellectual property law matters and successfully defended trademark infringement claims made against a local Texas winery. He also counseled an oil and gas technology startup in Houston through its product design, manufacturing, and distribution phases of growth. In his spare time, Mr. Freeland enjoys free wine, crawfish (when in season), cutting hay (also seasonal), and tending to the family cattle ranch.
