Kiernan “Kier” McAlpine is a personal injury trial lawyer. He has tried over twenty cases to a verdict, both in jury trials and in arbitrations. He has tried 100% of these cases on behalf of injured plaintiffs. He has handled several hundred personal injury cases to successful conclusions by settlement. In 2018, he became Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. Board certification in personal injury trial law is the sign of a specialist and an expert in personal injury law. While most lawyers have taken their last test when they passed the bar exam, Kier studied diligently to take another exam. After passing, he earned a distinction only held by 2% of attorneys in the State of Texas. He became licensed in the State of Texas in 2009 when he passed the Texas bar examination as a first-time taker. Between 2009 and 2013, he was a solo practitioner. Since 2013, he has dedicated his practice to personal injury matters. In 2014, he joined the Daspit Law Firm, and he became a Partner in 2018. In 2018, he became licensed to practice law in the State of New Mexico. He is also licensed in every Federal District Court in the State of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal District Court of New Mexico. In 2020, he became a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million-dollar verdicts and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members. He is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. Kier is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Board of Directors since 2021. In 2005, he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Middlebury College with concentration in political philosophy. He received High Honors in his department, winning the Jarrett Prize for political philosophy and the pre-law award. In 2008, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He worked as a summer extern at the Supreme Court of Texas in 2006 and competed in mock trial and mock negotiations. Kier lives in Houston, Texas with his wife and daughter. He enjoys reading, running and fitness, Texas barbeque, and travel.
